Awards and Recognition...Week 1, May 14th, 2023

As promised here are some individuals that have excelled beyond our district. I would love to hear from others that have excelled within or beyond our district. If you have any suggestions and/or individuals that are worthy of recognition, please send them to me. Thank you. 

First, Maddi Shouts, a 2022 graduate of Westfall High School, is a freshman at Ottawa University, just northwest of Phoenix, Arizona. She continues her golf careers at Ottawa University and currently leads her team in stroke average at 74.83, garnering her Golden State Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year. She and her Spirit team will represent Ottawa in the NAIA National Championships running from May 23rd, until May 26th, at TPC Deere Run, Silvis, Illinois. We wish Maddie the best of luck. 

Next, our own SEOGCA President Carl Schneider was recognized as Coach of the Year again. Varsity Boys' Golf Coach at West Union has been honored by the National Federation of High Schools Coaches Association as the Ohio High School Athletic Association Golf Coach of the Year for 2021-2022. This is the second straight year that Coach Schneider has won the Coach of the Year honor. Coach Schneider was selected based upon his coaching performance, lifetime community involvement, and philosophy of coaching. Congratulations Coach!
