Re: 2023 Golf Introduction and Regulation Updates
First and foremost, I would like to formally introduce myself. My name is Monroe Britton, and I will be the new golf administrator at the OHSAA. As many of you know, Tyler Brooks is no longer with the organization, but I am well aware I have some big shoes to fill. I am excited about this opportunity, and I am looking forward to working with each of you to continue to advance the game of golf and provide memorable opportunities for our student athletes here in Ohio.
The Board of Directors approved the 2023-2024 school year regulations at their June board meeting. With these regulations came 3 changes for the 2023 golf season which are outlined below.
1) The new start date for practice will be Monday, July 31st. This will also serve as the date for which competition is allowed to begin.
2) There is once again a change to non-interscholastic participation for the upcoming season. Student-athletes are still granted three non-interscholastic waivers; however, these waivers will be permitted at any time during the 2023 OHSAA golf season at the discretion of your coaches and administrators.
3) There was an addition to the cell-phone policy which states that green reading devices and applications are not permitted to be used in competition.
The 2023 non-interscholastic waiver request form is now a form you can access using google forms. The link to this is posted on the left side of the golf page on the OHSAA website.
